Cheme Engineering Inc. - Campbellville, Ontario Cheme (pronounced " Previous Engineering PositionsIntlvac - Georgetown, Ontario Intlvac is a high-tech company located in Georgetown (near Toronto) which designs, manufactures and supplies high-vacuum equipment. Their customized equipment can perform etching, sputtering, E-beam and thermal evaporation. They also create machinery for coating optical fibres and space simulation, as well as undertake several proprietary-manufacturing methods. The company is also a major supplier of ion beam equipment/parts, high-purity tubing/valves and a wide range of standardized high-vacuum equipment. Through their two main offices in Georgetown and Montreal, and via several representative offices, Intlvac services a wide range of clients in North America, Europe and throughout the world. I worked at Intlvac as a control systems engineer. As part of their design team, I designed and implemented control systems for their custom high- vacuum systems. Rowan Williams Davies & Irwin Inc. (RWDI) - Guelph, Ontario RWDI is a Guelph-based company that specializes in fields such as Wind Engineering, Air Quality, Wind Loading, Acoustics, Noise and Vibration and Pedestrian Comfort. At their Guelph site they have wind tunnels, a water plume tank and lots of other fun stuff. They also several other offices around the world, including one with a wind tunnel in the UK. I worked in their R&D department. My primary responsibilities included: software development, instrumentation, project planning and report writing. It was a pretty fun place to work. WebMastering ServicesWeb Mastering Services is a small web design company I have run since 1998. I provide everything from straight web design and maintenance to online identity consulting and marketing advice. More information can be found at www.WebMasteringServices.com. Note: This is consulting work that I do in addition to my day job. Telecom/Network Wiring Installations (not active)From time to time, I design and install computer networks, cable TV and telephone systems in both residential/commercial buildings. This involves everything from the planning and installation to the plasterwork to finish the job. Though I mostly did this type of work to earn money for school, I still do the occasional contract Graham's Marine Electrical Solutions (not active)When I was in school, I ran a number of small enterprises in addition to my classes. For many years I provided marine electrical services with the company name Graham's Marine Electrical Solutions. As a marine electrical technician I did electrical/electronic work on boats ranging from 20-100 feet. In 2001 I effectively wound up the business, due to increasing demands from my university studies. |
